Abstract

Airway management poses a challenge due to the newborn ’ s small size, unique anatomy, and physiology. Th us, the approach to newborn airway management diff ers from that for older children and adults. Th is chapter provides an overview of a spectrum of topics important in newborn airway management, including airway anatomy and physiology, tips for adequate ventilation and intubation, one- lung ventilation techniques, management of mediastinal masses, difficult airway management, and airway management in infants undergoing mandibular distraction and tongue– lip adhesion.
