N1 - Funding Information: Acknowledgments. The authors gratefully acknowledge the contributions and support of Dr. Pamela Thornton of the NIDDK for the CDTRs (NIDDK grant nos. P30DK092950, P30DK092926, P30DK092923, P30DK111024, P30DK111022, P30DK092949, and P30DK092924). Duality of Interest. No potential conflicts of interest relevant to this article were reported. Funding Information: We read with interest the recent article by Dunne et al. (1) outlining the women’s leadership gap in diabetes. The authors’ detailed examination of gender representation in scientific organizations such as the American Diabetes Association and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes illustrates concerning gender disparities in the field. We applaud their efforts to quantify gender underrepresentation and provide recommendations and potential solutions. However, the assessment of leadership in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) P30 program only examined Diabetes Research Centers, overlooking another major P30 program funded by the NIDDK: the Centers for Diabetes Translation Research (CDTRs) (2) https://www.diabetes-translation.org.
