They All Sing..: Voice, Body, and Representation in Diva

Abstract

An examination of the films Diva and Thriller suggests that (1) the deployment of voice in cinema does not hold the key to analysis of gender and power and (2) a critique outside of patriarchy is difficult to achieve, whatever signifying mode is adopted.
