Abstract

The design and synthesis of a desymmetrised molecular shuttle, in which the two components are a cyclobis(paraquat-p-phenylene) macrocycle and a linear polyether chain intercepted by a hydroquinol unit and a p-xylyl residue, and terminated by two 4-tritylphenyl ether groups, are reported.
