Towards noiseless amplification of optical signals

Abstract

Parametric amplifiers can boost signals with 0dB noise-figure penalty, which for conventional linear optical amplifiers approaches 3dB at high gains. We will present results on noise performance of fiber optical parametric amplifiers, focusing on regimes of noiseless signal amplification.
