Abstract

This essay examines the national literature of Qatar and its relation to the human development goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. The essay discusses the genres of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, reports on efforts by Qatar to expand literary production and appreciation, and outlines issues that may affect future growth of the national literature. The research draws upon literary works of Qatari authors, secondary sources related to these works, and interviews conducted by the author.
