Abstract

To the Editor: The recent paper by Tong et al. entitled “Failure of Transfer-Factor Therapy in Chronic Active Type B Hepatitis” (N Engl J Med 295:209-211, 1976), which describes the failure of a single patient with inactive disease to respond to transfer factor, is of interest. After the apparent clinical and biochemical response of a patient with H.B.sAg-negative chronic aggressive hepatitis to transfer factor prepared from patients who had recently recovered from acute H.B.sAg-negative hepatitis,1we initiated a double-blind trial of transfer factor in chronic aggressive hepatitis.2 3Patients with H.B.sAg-negative and H.B.s. . .
