Abstract
Modern neuroscience has produced a new understanding of metabolic and degenerative disorders of the nervous system. Several books review this extensive field. This has directly lead to new therapeutic modalities. On the horizons we see, only dimly at present, the prospects for further evolution of our approaches to treatment. Many degenerative disorders no longer impose the grim reality of unmitigable suffering and anguish for those who must passively accept their fate.
