Abstract

The use of microstructured fibers in optical amplifiers, wavelength shifters and all-optical switches was discussed. Broadband optical amplification and wavelength shifting were performed. Cross-phase modulation between strong pump and weak signal pulses was also used. Results showed the feasibility of using MFs to perform essential functions in high-speed all-optical processing.
