Abstract

Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) methods have recently been used to examine water wave motions. Here we apply SPH to the problem of water waves impinging on a deck of an offshore platform. Laboratory experiments by Cox and Ortega (2001) are used to motivate the numerical modeling efforts. Realistic comparisons are found, although no direct one-one comparisons are made as the resolution of the numerical model was insufficient at that time.
