Abstract

This paper demonstrates the capability of DYNASMART-X to provide anticipatory descriptive travel information, in the form of predictive time-dependent path or point-to-point travel times. For the sake of evaluating different information provision strategies, a closed-loop rolling horizon framework is implemented on the basis of original open loop system design. Two information provision strategies are compared in the conducted computational experiment, namely prevailing travel time information and predictive time-dependent travel time information. Consistency and value of the generated anticipatory travel time information are explored and discussed in the simulation results from a computational experiment.
