Abstract

The form of the age effect on creep and elasticity is established by treating the hydrating cement paste as a composite and analyzing the process of solidification of cement gel. A new, more realistic form of the creep function is deduced in terms of three functions of one variable, which are related to two physical parameters of the solidified matter (cement gel) and the migration passage length. A new creep law is proposed and it is shown that the double power law is obtained as its special case when the growth of gel volume is negligible. The effect of temperature is introduced in terms of activation energies.
