Abstract

We theoretically proposed a design of tapered metallic gratings, which could achieve high-contrast broadband asymmetric transmission covering the entire visible regime. The transmission difference between forward and backward illumination reaches ∼ 50%. Such a simple design with high performance suggests applications for unidirectional optical transmission.
