Abstract

Durbin and Hicks articulated several process-focused and developmentally sensitive directions for future research on personality–psychopathology associations. The burgeoning field of research on youth personality disorder offers an illustrative context that both underscores and offers counterpoint to some of the principles articulated there. Greater attention to and integration of developmental principles offer an important direction for personality–psychopathology research, but the breadth of complex psychopathology may require nuanced and dynamic approaches to accommodate different forms of mental disorder.
