Abstract
We argue that individuals with more specialized prior knowledge are more likely to become entrepreneurs when their social networks feature greater knowledge diversity. Evidence comes from an examination of 1,324 MBA students who were quasi-randomly assigned to small study groups, allowing us to observe exogenous variation in network knowledge diversity.
