Abstract

Most patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) will ask their physician at some point how and why they acquired it. When the pneumonia is severe or fatal, physicians are often left wondering “why” as well, particularly when the patient is young or has no obvious underlying chronic medical conditions.
